Daily Food Expense in Shanghai (2009 Edition)

An ordinary “white collar” daily food expenses are as follows:

Breakfast:

choice A: 1 RMB’s steam bread with meat stuff & 0.6 RMB’s soybean milk at street food stall

choice B: 3 RMB’s glutinous rice roll & 2 RMB’s sour milk from local convinence store, such as Lawson, and C-Store etc.

Lunch:

choice A:10RMB to 30RMB for lunch special

choice B:Average 20RMB to 40RMB per person for dining in a restaurant shared with colleagues

Supper:

cook at home, generally 10 RMB/per person

However, food cost can vary significantly dependent on your life style. A meal at high-end restaurant may cost you like more than 1000RMB per person. Organic and imported foods always triple your food budget or even more.
