Shopping at Yuyuan Garden

Yuyuan Garden is a 400 year old classical Chinese garden in the Old Town of Shanghai, not far from the Bund. Garden represents classical Chinese architecture with tea house and other beautiful buildings.  Because it is unique and immediately different style than other part in shanghai, so it is a must see!

But when you are there, you will find:

In the garden, there has one Chinese style bazaar where you could find most Chinese traditional items, such as  silk bathrobes, shirts, Chinese paintings etc. Because items are attractive and traditional, you couldn’t help to buy some. However, as a tourist, you may experience some tricky deals though here is not 100% a tourist trap.

So how to do shopping here?

Never pay full price for anything when shopping.  Never forget your bargain.

Start to offer half what they are asking for and negotiate from there.

You don’t need to know Chinese, all deals could be done by punching a number on the calculator which is the basic tool of bazaar vendors.

Keep those in mind, then happy shopping.
