As more and more people flood into this city, taxi is not bad business in Shanghai, even in recession.

So  sometimes it is getting a little difficult to  call a taxi or cab on the street.

Wanna to call a taxi easily on the street, here are some tips I collected from different sources.

Try to avoid rush hour to call a taxi on the street.  It may take time to get one and  take a longer traffic hour to get your destination. If you have appointment or schedule for a meeting, Metro is a best choice even if you may be squeezed like sardine. But at least Metro is a reliable transportation tool during rush hour.

Try to avoid calling a taxi in the raining days. It is hard to get one, and it is a true fact in Shanghai as many want to get one like you.

Try to avoid hot spot place to wave a taxi, such as People’s Square, Super Brand Mall in Lujiazhui etc. If you really need a taxi, just walk some blocks away to get yours.

Try to wave a taxi with companies like: Dazhong (Light Turquoise), Qiangsheng(Yellow), Jingjiang (White), Bashi (Light Green), and Haibo (Dark Blue). They should be regulated well under governance.  Personally, I prefer Dazhong as my favorite taxi.

If hard to get a taxi, you could call taxi operators by service hotline. But during the rush hour, this is not easy as we expect.

If hard to get a taxi, go to hotels nearby, and stay at front door. There have good chances to get your ride.

Try to avoid waving a cab at the street corner, most taxi drivers is reluctant to stop over for you because of police.

Try to avoid calling a taxi after city events, such as concerts, holiday celebration. It is hard to get as many wish to get one like you. Better walk several blocks away to catch one.

Try to use call center as much as possible for cab. Just dial number, speak to English operator about your location, wait at cafe or hotels until cab coming.  Again, rush hour is not 100% satisifaction.

So keep those tips, and good luck for your taxi ride in Shanghai
