When you arrive in Shanghai Pudong International Airport, please watch out to avoid any scam from unlicensed cabs.
1. When you arrive in Shanghai Pudong International Airport, make sure the taxi stands authorized by government are on the right floor , ususally on the arrival hall.
2. Go straight to the right floor of taxi stands (if you are not sure where it is, you could check with information desk). Find a metered cab with top. And recommend to take branded cabs like Dazhong, Qiangsheng, Bashi, Jingjiang etc.
3. Expect to pay around 130-150RMB to get to the city center in Puxi, the west side of Huangpu River. When you get off from taxi, remember to get your receipt or invoice (Chinese name: fa piao). It will help you to complain any ugly service provided by driver.
4. Do not accept the help of the touts there who may take out a cell phone and call their driver friend. These would be unlicensed cabs with no meters in them. They will try to cook up a story about changes in rules, etc., and try to charge you more (up to 400RMB). And sometimes they may transfer you to other unlicensed cabs waiting outside the airport, then they back to airport for next victim.
So please be careful about any illegal cabs.
