Yesterday I watched TV and there was a scam group been caught by local police due to credit card scam. Is it a good news or bad news? Good news is scam group been caught by authorities, but bad news is so many people will continue to be victim by this scam if bank don’t put much check on credit application. So as innocent people, how should we protect us because personal ID and signature are so easy to get in China?

Then, how does scam work?

First, the con experts get a business license from local government and set up a nice office in the decent CBD or where they think would-be comfortable by job seekers. When all set up, and everything looks very legitimate.

Next they post job vancancies with an attractive offer and interview a lot of applicants. Definitely before interviewing, they are going to collect a copy of applicants’ ID and signatures or whatever information they believe to help them do a scam job. Well, scam is done in the job interview process, and a pretty normal procedure. So no applicants will be aware of scammer’s credibility.

After a large of collection of applicants’ privacy, they take a copy of the ID and go around to banks and apply for credit cards. They do the same thing over and over again for many innocent people.

Obviously, before they were caught by police, damage has already passed to innocent people that never see the credit card statement in the name of them.

So after reading this post, do you think what we should do to protect our privacy in the daily life?

A well-designed con job. It seems in China there is no any serious procedures to apply for a credit card. I saw many got their credit card at Metro station or whereever crowded by population. If they are con experts, so what will be? So I do suggest going to bank or a fianancial insititution to get your credit card when you need in China.
