I took this photo in other day when I walked on Century Avenue in Pudong, Shanghai. This is a road sign to Shanghai Metro. As a local resident, I could understand easily what it means. But if you are new to Shanghai and know nothing about Chinese words, understanding the sign will be helpful to find where the Metro station is.

Could you guess what this road sign implies?
First, No. 1 picture is “Shanghai Metro Logo”.

No. 2 picture means “Shanghai Metro” or “Shanghai Subway”

And “Line 4″ on the plate means Shanghai Metro Line 4. And Line 4 is circular line around the inner city.
Finally “The arrow” in the plate means you should follow this direction to find Metro station nearby.
