  2. Einar says:

Thanks for the timetable information. I plan to take the D train from Shanghai South to Hangzhou in November.

Do they timetables change for the weekend at all? Or is it the same every day?

Also, do I need to book tickets for this train?

  3. Hoo says:

The train timetable doesn’t change for the weekend. It is the same everyday although it may have some slight changes every few months or a year.

If you travel during the weekend from Shanghai to Hangzhou, you’d better buy your tickets in advance as many Shanghainese love to have a weekend off in Hangzhou.

    Enjoy your trip!

Where can I book the CRH ticket in advance?

  5. jackiesmith says:

this info is great, how about D train from shanghai to suzhou, it is also from the same train station and is there a way to find out the timetable? thanks in advance.

  6. Hoo says:

The train to Suzhou is from Shanghai Railway Station because Suzhou is on the north of Shanghai. Currently there is no best way to find out the timetable except you go to the ticket office. Most online system (Chinese only) can not update the information on real time, but it can be for reference.

  7. Reg Reberger says:

We have just booked a ticket from Shanghai to Hangzhou. At the main booking office at the Shanghai station use window 10 (has an English speaking officer). The office is not in the underground station.

  8. Hoo says:

Thanks, Reg, for this useful information.

  19. Hoo says:

If by Taxi, I guess you will take more than one and half hour to go. However, you could take Airport Shuttle Bus from Pudong Airport to Shanghai South Railway Station. It will only cost you no more than RMB30. Here is my previous post for your information:

Where to Shuttle Bus Line 7 to Pudong Airport in Shanghai South Railway Station

  20. Hoo says:

    Hi, Nicholas,

First, there is no bullet maglev train yet between Hangzhou and Shanghai. Now maglev line is still under discussion.

So you could take D trains (a.k.a CRH trains) to Shanghai, and it will take you at most one and half hour to bring you from Hangzhou to Shanghai.

I am trying to go from Suzhou to Yiwu and was planning to get the bullet train from Shanghai South. Looking at the train timetables from Suzhou to Shanghai South none seem suitable. Is there a bus from Suzhou to Shanghai South Station and does anyone know the timetable? Thank you.

  24. Hoo says:

    Hi Robyn,

From Shanghai South Station, there are several buses to Suzhou daily, and long distance coach bus station is not far away from Shanghai South Station too. It is about 5 to 10 minute walk distance.

Bus frequency to Suzhou is about 20 minutes interval starting from 06:27, However, different bus will bring you to different location in Suzhou, please check out when you buy your ticket.

By the way, you could go from Shangha Railway Station to Suzhou by bullet trains too. If possible to you, then check Shanghai to Suzhou D train Schedule for your plan.
