Chinese Breakfast in Shanghai Hotel

I never knew that the Chinese breakfast could be one of the problems of choosing hotels in Shanghai until I heard the story from Keith and Graeme.

They originally booked a four star hotel in Shanghai and stayed for a couple of days. But they decided to change to a five star international hotel afterwards.

Why? The Breakfast.

Both of them need to work long time during the day, so they need very good breakfast they used to have at home in the morning. But the four star hotel could only provide Chinese style breakfast.

You might be quite familiar with the continental breakfast and English breakfast. So what is the Chinese breakfast like?

Normally Chinese breakfast provides: porridge, steamed buns, dumplings, Dim Sum, soya milk, Chinese pickles, noodles, boiled eggs.

Normally typical Chinese breakfast doesn’t provide: toasts, cereals, fruits, sausages, butter, juice, bread, pancake, baked beans, cheese, bacon, potato hash, fried eggs, coffee.

Five-star international hotels in China provide varieties of breakfast to accomondate every kind of customers’ needs including English, Continental, Chinese, Japanese etc. However, most local Chinese hotels provide Chinese breakfast plus few western items such as milk (hot), sliced bread, cake. So if you do have requirements on breakfast, take this into consideration.
