If you have been to the People’s Square in Shanghai, you might saw a white tall building next to the Park Hotel. The top of the building looks like a UFO. Yes, it is the Shanghai Radisson Hotel and the top is the revolving restaurant, Epicure 45.

There are total 8 revolving restaurants in Shanghai and most are inside top hotels. I’ve been to the one on the Oriental Pearl Tower. But to be honest, it didn’t impress me a lot except the view.

Last night, I was invited to a dinner in Epicure 45. As its name indicated, the restaurant is on the 45th Floor of the hotel. When I first stepped into, the space is totally opened up. The tables are all next the window and the chefs were cooking in the open kitchen which was located in the center of the restaurant.

First, the view was absolutely stunning. With the best location, I could see Puxi and Pudong and the river and the park and ….. every bit of the city.

I got two menus when I was ordering, one was the wine menu and the other was food menu. There were four categories of food they provide: Chinese, Western, Japanese and Indian. Because there were so many nice food, I decided to have a mix and match. I had the french garlic bread and seafood soup as the starter, Japanese steak as the main course. The food was absolutely delicious.

Although it is a revolving restaurant, I hardly felt the movement because it moves quite slow. The waiter told me the complete circle takes about two and half hours.

My comments:

It is a great restaurant, good service, good location, good food, fantastic view and environment. Price is a bit high. My dinner cost 500RMB. I will strongly suggest to host a VIP dinner, Valentine’s dinner or other important occasions there. If you are a tourist in Shanghai and have a very short time, here might be a place to indulge yourself a bit as it does not only offer you great food, but also has the best view of Shanghai.

If you think the price is too high. Another option is to go to the Sky Dome Bar on the 47th floor. The bar is not revolving but the view is absolutely the same and cost much lower, you basically pay what you drink, starting from about 50RMB.

Epicure 45 is also doing Sunday brunch buffet which could be a good family Sunday out. 250RMB plus 15% service charge.
