The heat seems to come back in Shanghai in recent days and we got 35 degrees again.
When yesterday I took the Metro Line 5 to Minghang Development Zone, I saw a bucket ( wheelie bin size) of blocks of ice to help cool down the train.

To be honest, I didn’t feel the ice helped a lot although I appreciate the efforts. I remember a couple of yeas ago in Metro Line 1, the same action was taken to cool down the train because of the ineffective air conditioning system.
The situation was even worse in Line 5. The trains runing on Line 5 are light rail ones which means they are running on the surface instead of underground. Heated by the sun, it is easier to getting hotter and hotter inside.
The news reported that the air conditioning system in Line 5 will be upgraded to combat the heat and hopefully the project will be finished by end of this year.
