Hotel Equipment Depot - The Kitchenware Mart in Shanghai

Hi, I am planning to open a cafe in Shanghai with my friend. I am trying to buy some kitchenware such as the kitchen tools, bake pans, bar accessories etc. I have been to IKEA, but found most are for family use. I also went to some supermarket and found the kitchenware there are mostly Chinese. Where can I find those kitchenware for business use in Shanghai? Many thanks.

Anna, it was a right time you asked me this question because I just came back from the Hotel Equipment Mart, where you can find exactly what you want.

My Australian friend, Denise loves cooking at home and has been wandering the whole Shanghai for the kitchenware she wanted. She used to complain that it was hard to find those western kitchenware in Shanghai. I was taken by her last week to a place she called kitchenware heaven in Shanghai.

The mart is located in 345 Ao Men Road (Macao Road), near Jiang Ning Road. Unfortunately no metro station nearby. So taxi might be the best way to get there.

It is called Hotel Equipment Depot, which is also the kitchenware supplier of some hotels, restaurants and bars in Shanghai. The entrance is on the second floor of the building. They do both wholesale and retail. So don’t worry if you don’t buy a lot.

There you can find almost everything you need for your cafe, including coffee machine, glasses, pots, bake-ware etc. You name it! It offers all style kitchenware, Chinese, Japanese, Western. And the price is even lower than those normal supermarkets.
