Question from Julie:
Hi, I am going to teach in Donghua University in Songjiang University Town from September. I will fly to Pudong. Do you know how I can get there? I know that I can always take taxi but if there is any public transportation I can take. If not, how much is for taxi approximately? Thanks a lot!
Answer from Hoo:
Welcome to Shanghai, Julie. Wow, it seems that your first thing in Shanghai is travelling from the very east to the very west.
OK, as you said, the easiest way is to take taxi. Taxi costs about 220RMB or 280 after 11pm in the night. The whole trip takes about 2 hours.
Yes, there is public transportation you can take as Metro Line 9 goes to Songjiang University Town in the west.
I’ve asked a few interns working in my office for their suggestion. The best route is:
Airport shuttel bus Line 7 to South Shanghai Railway Station.
Take Metro Line 3 from South Shanghai Railway Station and get off at Yishan Road (Yi Shan Lu) Station and change to Metro Line 9 to Songjiang University Town.
Shuttle bus: 14RMB+Metro: 8 RMB = 22RMB
Duration: 2 hours
Good Luck!
