Hi, Hoo, I am expecting my first baby, a girl next January. I am now looking for some good kids’ furniture. I’ve been to IKEA and some furniture malls in Shanghai. But I am not so sure about their quality and safety and some design is too cartoon. You know, as the first time of being a mother, I am really nervous and want to give the best. Can you recommend a good kids’ furniture shop in Shanghai? Thanks!

Hi, Julia, congratulations for the coming baby girl. I understand how busy you are as a proud mum.

Besides those furniture stores you mentioned, you may also try J4KID in Hami Road, Changning District. Some of my friends bought some really nice furnitures there.

I was told the store is owned by two Shanghai mums who found hard to have good quality children’s furniture for their kids. Then they decided to open their own children’s furniture store.

I’ve seen some furnitures my friends bought. The furnitures are different from those in other furniture stores in Shanghai. Very chic design, bright color! Very unique identity.

They also provide customer made service. They can produce the furniture according to the design and measurement you require.

Interestingly they also have adult furnitures paird with those kids’ ones. They are very cute and fun!

Address: 201 Building 6, 1233 Hami Road (near Kele Road)
The store doesn’t look like a proper furniture showroom. Half of the building is a car repair shop.

If you take Metro Line 2, get off at Songhong Road Station and then take a taxi there. Taxi costs about 15RMB.
