The two markets mentioned in Part One are both in Puxi which is the west side of the Huangpu river. Don’t worry if you live in Pudong, there is a similar fabric market as well.

- A.P. Plaza

I blogged about A.P. Plaza before (read my previous blog here). The huge underground market is located at Shanghai Science and Technology Museum Station. So transportation is very easy. Metro Line 2 and then you will be there. There is one section for fabric and tailor service. Again lots of stalls with fabrics inside. Same rules applied here. Price is also similar as some shops here actually relocated themselves from the old Dongjiadu Fabric market to here.

You can ask some extra services when you order your clothes.

- to have your signature on your shirt for about 10RMB

- to deliver the clothes to your home when it is ready. The delivery cost is about 10-30RMB depends how far you live

As I said before, the quality of the clothes by these three fabric markets are adequate for daily use. If you want something really good for special occasion, for example, a really high quality suit or wedding gown, you can try South Maoming Road and Chang Le Road near Huaihai Road. There are loads of tailor shops along this beautiful street with those pubs. Local people also often come here, especially ladies love to make their Qi Pao (mandarin gown or Chinese Dress) here. Some tailors here are people working in this industry for years and some are even designers.  Of course, it costs much higher, 3000-4000RMB for a Men’s suit, compared 400-500RMB in those fabric market. Qi Pao costs from 1500 - 3000RMB.
