Today I went to a post office to EMS a parcel to my friend in Beijing. The post office staff asked me to open the box for security check. After they found bottles of capsules, they rejected it because capsules are not allowed.
So I tried to contact another private courier company (because as the state owned post office, EMS might not be that flexible) but again failed. Then I asked them why because I did send the capsules a couple of months ago. The staff told me that they received a special notice from national authority required stricter security check before accept the parcel.
The following items are unacceptable:
- Liquid products such as perfume, shampoo, wine etc
- White powder kind articles
- Capsules
- Batteries
- lighters
etc
I was also told the delivery could be delayed as the security at the airports, train stations etc are tightened everywhere in China. It takes longer time to process which might cause the delay.
When I logged on Taobao which is the Chinese version of eBay in China, I found most sellers put on a notice about the possible delay and rejection of the delivery.
Okay, it seems that the National Day has more impact than I expected!
