Have you been ‘bombed’ by wedding invitation this National Day week?

Today when my colleagues were talking about their plans for the golden week over the lunch time, Jason looked very upset and not interested at well. Why? Because he got unbelievable 8 wedding invitations from his friends, relatives etc for this golden week. Jason told me, if he goes to every wedding, at least he has to give 500RMB for each wedding couple. So 8 weddings, 4000RMB!

‘I worked a month for nothing!’

Yes, it seems that every National Day golden week is the peak time for wedding. And this year is even busier.

- two occasions in the week - National Day and Mid-autumn Festival. Chinese love anything even. We call it double happiness!

- longer holiday - this year we have total 8 days off for these two occasions. Plus some couples may be entitled for so called late marriage leave (means if you get married after 25 if you are a guy, 23 if you are a lady, you are entitled of 10 days off ! This is kind of population control policy). And if you can ask for some annual leave. So the total days you take off could be a month. Would this be perfect for a wedding time?

I also got a couple of invitations from my friends. Compared with Jason, not too bad…… I just need to figure out how much I should put in each red envelope.
