The news reported that the taxi fare in Shanghai will be increased from tomorrow (11 October). Below is the comparison.
Day time:
First 3km: 11RMB -> 12RMB
Every 1km between 3 to 10km: 2.1RMB->2.4RMB
Every 1km above 10km: now 3.6RMB
Night after 11pm:
First 3km: 14RMB -> 16RMB
Every 1km between 3 to 10km: 2.7RMB->3.1RMB
Every 1km above 10km: now 4.7RMB
If there is some crowded traffic, waiting time on the road will be charged as well. five minutes waiting time is metered as one kilometer.
Let’s have some real examples:
Pudong Airport - People’s Square
Before: 131RMB Now: 160RMB
Hongqiao Airport - People’s Square
Before: 40RMB Now: 50RMB
Add 30% more if you travel during night time.
So this means you travel more, you pay more, especially during the night time (after 11pm).
The authority will update the meter machines in the taxis from tomorrow. The update work will be completed within a month. During this time, taxi passenger may experience two price systems.
