Today’s news said Shanghai Rail finally launched its official ticket booking hotline today. So passengers can dial 95105105 to book the train ticket from Shanghai to anywhere in China except Hongkong.
I then logged on Shanghai Rail official web site to understand the telephone booking procedure. It looked easy.
Then I dialed 95105105 and followed the instructions given by the recorded ‘telephone lady’. After some confusions and keying in, I finally got an order number upon which I can collect my tickets from various offices throughout Shanghai within 3 days.
Some of my personal reviews of my first telephone train ticket booking experience.
- All the steps and instruction are pre-recorded and played automatically. There is no representative that customers can talk to. So the procedure was confusing and time consuming.
- No English service available
- Because all the information was played by machine. It was killing me when I was checking the timetable.
My conclusion:
I still prefer to go to one of the train booking offices near me to book the tickets. I kind understand the reasons why the online train booking system set up by Shanghai Rail failed a few months ago.
