Although I am updating the post of Shanghai 2009 Year End Sale Events, I didn’t go to any of them until today. So I really felt guilty whenever I receive emails from the readers asking for some comments.
So I decided to go to the Shu Uemura sale event to have some first hand information today.
The note said the sale started at 10:00am. In order to avoid big crowds, I arrived at Oriental Shopping Center in East Nanjing Road at about 9:40am.
It is quite convenient to get there. I took the Metro Line 2 and got off at People’s Square Station.
I saw this big board in front its main entrance to direct people who are for Shu Uemura Sale to the narrow lane beside the building.

When I arrived the small door, I saw already about 20 people (well, almost all girls) were lining up there. Wow, I didn’t expect this. Don’t they need to work today? And the first girl today arrived at 6am! And I was 25!

About 10am, the security guard opened the door and I followed the group to the 5th floor.
We then had to wait again in a waiting room for our number to be called. There were about 20 chairs for people to rest. Nice touch.

A lady then announced the shopping procedure:
1. distribute the product list
2. tick the products you would like to purchase
3. the staff to prepare your order
4. pay
5. collect products you ordered

Then we were allowed to go into the sale room batch by batch (10 people per batch).

I had to say the girls were really crazy, I saw a girl bought at least 40 items! So I looked pretty weird with nothing.
When I came out of the building, I saw longer queue in front of the door, about 50 people.

Personal comments:
This is my first time going to such special sale event. Actually not that bad.
Probably because I went there quite early, everything was quite organised (but when I was leaving, things were a bit unpretty).
I don’t know if the sale prices were good there because I am not Shu Uemura user. From the list, skin care products are about 100 - 300. But the girls around me were very excited and some were talking about 70% off. Some price information below:
- Depsea moisturiser (50ml): 280RMB
- Depsea essence (30ml): 300RMB
- Cleansing Oil (150ml): 200RMB
- Duo Blush: 150RMB
- Lashes: 50RMB
No testers. So it would be better if you know this product.
No refund, no exchange.
Final comment, it is time consuming and engergyconsuming. Be prepared for the long queue at every step and fighting with other people.
