Map is from google, and South Shanghai Railway Station is easy to be reached by all kind of public transportation.
For me, No. 1 choice is Metro line 1 or 3 getting off @ Shanghai South Railway Station.
If you want to cacth your flights at Pudong International Airport, and there is a direct shuttle bus between Pudong airport and South Shanghai Railway Station too, which is airport shuttle bus No. 7.
Around the station, there is one coach bus station bringing you to cities away from the Shanghai, such as Hangzhou, Jaixin, and Huzhou etc.
South Shanghai Railway Station is really a major transportation hub in Shanghai before Hongqiao hub has been completed in the coming years.
