When new huning intercity rail is ready on July 1st., Shanghai will have four railway stations to transport passengers which are Shanghai Railway Station, South Shanghai Railway Station, West Shanghai Railway Station, and Latest Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station. Among them, Hongqiao Railway Station, a final stop of Beijing to Shanghai high speed rail, is the biggest one in the city. It’s mainly used for CRH or bullet trains and links two major intercity rails of huning and huhang.
So with four train stations, how to get there is the major question to ask?
First,Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station:
1. By metro, taking metro line 2 stop at Hongqiao Railway Station. Easy, huh? What all you need is a just a metro map.
2. By taxi, by bus, and by minivan (Let me discuss in other post later)
Second, Shanghai Railway Station:
1. By metro, taking metro line 1, or metro line 3/4 stop at Shanghai Railway Station. You could either check in from north square or south square no matter which metro exit you are out. Very straightforward by sign. (Probably English sign not easily understood by translation, but not a big deal)
Third, South Shanghai Railway Station:
1. By metro, taking metro line 1 or line 3 stop at South Shanghai Railway Station. Same as Shanghai Railway Station, South Shanghai has two squares as well. You could check in from both.
Fourth, West Shanghai Railway Station:
1. By metro, taking metro line 11 stop at West Shanghai Railway Station. It is a new railway station open to the public, and I guess most passengers won’t take trains from there for a while.
Shanghai has two major airports. One is Hongqiao International Airport where is on the puxi side, and the other is Pudong International Airport in pudong side obviously. Two airports are linked by Metro line 2. So going to both airport, all you just need to do is going to the correct direction. Hongqiao is toward west, and Pudong airport is toward east.
Going to Hongqiao airport, Metro line 2 stop at Hongqiao airport terminal 2. Going to Pudong international airport, metro line 2 stop at Pudong international airport station, but you need transit once at Guanglan road metro station where metro train is changed from 8 cabins to 4 cabins to airport, and operation hour here.
Need more operation hours at train stations or airports? Check here.
