Total 25 pairs of D trains running between Shanghai and Nanjing will become history on July 1st., 2010.
Compared to new launched G trains, bullet D trains is way cheaper than bullet G trains. Most locals compliant about higher price of G trains as speed of G trains is high theoretically but journey time between two cities doesn’t have any significant cut.
D trains via Nanjing to Shanghai are still available, and the number will be cut to half on the new huning intercity rail. Due to lower price and relatively fast speed of D trains, more packed D trains will be expected in the coming months. One commuter from Internet did a math on new price of huning intercity train to cost of driving a luxury car with one passenger, and found driving luxury car will save 20 bucks than taking G trains. If so, did policy makers of high speed trains really think about eco-friendly transportation? Or just economy?
