Xiangyang market had been closed several years ago. Now it is said that a APM shopping mall has been constructing on top of previous Xiang Yang market. (APM is a concept mall from Hongkong, means a mall you could play more and sleep less from a.m. to p.m.. It is expected to be opened in this year)
So in the coming days, I will visit Xiangyang market once again, and see how everything is going now for this famous fake market where Prada and Chanel go to die.
Although we had to say goodbye to Xiangyang market, I still got many questions from friends and readers in the past year. Where are fake malls now? Do we have in Shanghai?
One of my best friend, who is an expert to Shanghai fake market, gave me a complete list. I share here in case you have interest.
First, Xiangyang market is gone, but people running stores are still on the business and potential customers are still showing their strong demands. They won’t be gone.
Second, they were dispersed into different corners around the city. But you still could find them easily. Then where?
1. Places around Old Xiangyang market (finding it on map here)
When you walked by there, you could easily find street hawkers to work or sell hard on the street. If you show interest, then they will lead you to places where are hidden around the neighborhood. What you could find on Bargain magazine, you could get there too. Places you was led to may not be decent as what you thought in Shanghai, so keep it in the mind.

Fake market hidden around Xiangyang Market
For bags or whatever quality, you may find A-grade or even superior A-grade stuff. But you need to pay premium to get what you want.
2. Place called Taobao city, located in No. 580 West Nanjing Road. (finding it on map here)
Taobao city is called Fenshine Fashion & Accessories Market too, and this taobao city has nothing related to www.taobao.com, which is top online shopping center in China.
For bags, shoes, cloth or whatever quality, you may find A-grade or even superior A-grade stuff. But professional customers are still like to go places around Xiangyang market. And why? I was told because of Xiangyang market branding and services provided, such as packaging, I.D. to commodity, or even invoice from genuine brand stores. Unbelievable huh? But nothing is impossible, right?
3. Place called Longhua market, located in No. 130 Longhua West Road
For bags, shoes, cloth or whatever quality, you may find B-grade, A-grade or even superior A-grade stuff. You are probably not happy about B-grade stuff, so ask A or A plus out to compare difference until you find an almost identical one with branding stuff.
4. Place called A.P. plaza, located in an underground maze of Shanghai Science & Technology Museum. You could reach by Metro No. 2 at Shanghai Science & Technology Museum stop.
For bags, shoes, cloth or whatever quality, you may find B-grade, A-grade or even superior A-grade stuff.
5. Place called Qipu road - A cheap cloth shopping street in Shanghai
Market at Qipu is mainly not target to those who want to buy almost genuine stuff. Targetting customers by it are city teenagers. So you will find this place is one but not popular as others.
6. Other places scattered in the city, such as places near to Shanghai Portman Ritz-Carlton hotel etc.. But not popular too.
Then where else you find?
