Hongqiao airport is located in west side of Huangpu river, and Pudong airport is in the east side of Huang river. Two ariports are not close to each, but they are well linked by public transportation. If you don’t rush your time or bring tons of luggage, going to one airport to other may not be a big deal.
From Pudong airport to Hongqiao airport (Here i assumed you will go to terminal 2 rather than 1), you have many options:
1. By taxi
Yeah, this is no brainer option. All you need to know how much will be from Pudong international airport to Hongqiao airport. I guess estimated taxi cost will be about 190 to 210 yuan. If you have more people and luggage to carry, probably taxi is a good choice. But, please do bear in mind traffic on the road is always not what we expected. Need a bigger taxi for your luggage or have more persons to travel together? you may try an expo taxi (the biggest and newest taxi in Shanghai).
2. By metro
This is an easy way, but you need to transit once from 4-carriage train to 8-carriage train and you still stay in the same metro line. Take metro line 2 at Pudong international airport, and transit at Guanglan road station to change train, then go all the way to Hongqiao airport terminal 2 station. The whole metro journey is about 90 minutes from one airport to other. When making your choice, please do check metro hours.
3. By maglev
Maglev is super fast up to speed about 400km per hour. However, it is only from Pudong airport to Longyang road metro station in 7 to 8 minutes. After landing from maglev train, you still need to transit metro line 2 at Longyang road station and continue your journey to stop at Hongqiao Airport Terminal 2. Maglev hours are here, and one way ticket price is 40 yuan with air ticket, arrival or departure both OK.
4. By airport shuttle bus
You could take airport shuttle bus No. 1 from Pudong airport to Hongqiao airport terminal 2. More schedule and price etc., check here.
After extended metro hours to Pudong airport, most people choose metro as top transportation becuase it is cost effective. If you don’t need to rush time and have any headache about luggage, you may try this option.
