From downtown to Pudong airport, there are several options. Which one is better? it really depends on your ticket schedule, your luggage (a few or less), and number of passengers. Below is a list of options, and let’s assume starting from downtown center which is people’s square.
BTW, the distance from people’s square to Pudong airport is about 45km (about 28 miles)
1. By taxi
Easy option, just need to know taxi rate to Pudong airport (estimated taxi rate here and late night charge rate here), or get a bigger taxi for your luggage or more people. Please give your own some buffer time in case traffic on the road to airport.
2. By hotel shuttle bus or limousine
Easy option, do check with your hotel for availability about this service.
3. By metro
An easy and punctual option but need to transit at Guanglan road metro station once. You need to make sure metro operation hours are OK to you. The journey time from people’s square to Pudong airport is about one hour, and subway ticket price is 7RMB.
4. By maglev
Trans-rapid is super fast to Pudong airport from Longyang raod metro station. But first you need to get Longyang road metro station either by taxi, metro, or bus. Please make sure maglev schedule is OK to you. Maglev train will take 7 to 8 minutes to Pudong airport from Longyang road metro station, and ticket price is 40RMB one way for each with valid air ticket (paper or electronic both OK)
5. By airport shuttle bus
Airport shuttle bus are leaving from different places of city, so do check the nearest one to you. Shuttle bus operation hours are here and ticket price is from 20 to 30RMB by different buses and places you leave. Please give some buffer time to offset any traffic on the way to airport.
After arriving at airport, all above transportation are easy to access to terminal 2. Taxi and bus will stop at departure gate.
