There are many ferry stations to cross Huangpu river between Pudong and Puxi. Pudong literally means the area in the east side of Huangpu river, and Puxi in the west side. Ferry to cross Huangpu river is the basic public transportation to local residents and travellers as well.
There are several categories of price to cross Huangpu river.
1. Fifty cent for single trip between Pudong and Puxi, and ferry is non-airconditioned.
2. Two yuan for single trip between Pudong and Puxi, and ferry is airconditioned.
3. If you cross river with a bicycle, price is one yuan and thirty cents.
4. If you cross river with an electric bike, price is one yuan and fifty cents.
5. If you cross river with a light motorcycle, price is two yuan and fifty cents.
6. If you cross river with a motorcycle, price is four yuan.
7. Air-conditioned ferry will charge more with bicycle or motorcycle. BTW, air-conditioned ferry doesn’t make sense to me in summer as wind on the river is cooler enough to feel comfortable, but in winter warmer ferry is helpful.
However, some ferry stations may not have non-airconditioned ferry, so two yuan will be paid to cross the big river.
