I plan to go to Putuoshan in September and it seems that ferry would be the best way. I don’t want the fast one from Lu Chao Gang as I am afraid that I would be sick. So I decide to go with the normal ferry from Wusong Dock in Baoshan. Do you know where I can buy the ferry tickets in downtown? I know I can always go to Baoshan to buy the tickets, but I just don’t bother to go all the way up there.

If you finish sightseeing at Lujiazui in Pudong and would like to return to the west side of the river, I will suggest you to take the ferry from Dongchang Road Ferry Station.
You can walk along Fucheng Road from Oriental Pearl Tower or from Super Brand Mall to get to Dongchang Road Ferry Station. It is a nice walk and you will pass Hooters restaurant, Aurora Tower, Citi Tower and Tomson Riviera, the most expensive apartment in Shanghai and then arrive at Dongchang Road Ferry Station in about 15 minutes. I was asked by many of my friends who are the first time to visit Shanghai the same question:
‘ Can I cross the Huangpu River on foot?’
Unfortunately, the answer is NO. There are tunnels and bridges in Shanghai, but the bridges are not pedestrian bridge, it is cars only. Actually there is a tourist tunnel which you can walk in to cross the river. But the tunnel itself is absolute rubbish and you see nothing but being charged ridiculously 30RMB.
