Job hiring or Credit card scam?

Yesterday I watched TV and there was a scam group been caught by local police due to credit card scam. Is it a good news or bad news? Good news is scam group been caught by authorities, but bad news is so many people will continue to be victim by this scam if bank don’t put much check on credit application. So as innocent people, how should we protect us because personal ID and signature are so easy to get in China?

You may be approached by nice looking “college girls” stopping you by some excuses in the streets of Shanghai, espcially areas where most tourists are around. Fraud over phone in Shanghai (Part II)

Another fraud I always came across was via mobile phone. I used to receive some text messages to notice me that I used my credit card in a shop and my card has been successfully charged. If I have any question, I can contact the bank customer service at XXXXX(phone number).

Of course, I never heard and been to that shop. So I will call the number and check. Usually the ‘customer service staff’ will check all my information and confirm the money has been charged. After I express my anxious, he or she will transfer me to the ‘police’ because they think my credit card was stolen. Read More…

Here is one of my colleagues’ story today. She got a call on her landline today which was a recorded message telling her she didn’t pay her last month bill and would be fined. And then left a contact number. So my colleague was so worried and kept calling the landline company - China telecom to check if she had any unpaid bill. A costly overcharge by a taxi driver

Two Japanese passengers, on their first trip to Shanghai, flagged down the taxi at Pudong International Airport. When they got out at their destination, they were given an invalid invoice and charged 1,300 yuan (US$189) for a trip that should only charge 110 yuan.

A serious cheating by taxi driver with more than 10 fold overcharge.

While walking down the pedestrian street, East Nanjing Rd., you will enjoy there most by shopping or Shanghai beauty or whatever.  However, as a local Shanghai rat, I never shop anything there.  The reason: price may be higher, but quality may not be what you expect unless you go to branded super mall for shopping.

East Nanjing Road, a famous pedestrian street in Shanghai, is full of tricks or scams for tourists. Not only for foreigners also Chinese tourists too.
