Yang’s Pan Fried Dumpling facing Trust Crisis Friday, November 20th, 2009

If you have been to Shanghai, you will know how much Shanghainese love pan fried dumplings. And if you ask any Shanghainese for recommendation, the top brand must be Yang’s! Whenever you pass Wujiang Road, there is always a long queue in front of this small yet shabby store at the corner, where Yang started his very first pan fried dumpling restaurant.

But recently a post in a local BBS put Yang’s dumplings into a serious trouble. The post said he was seriously sick after eating Yang’s famous dumplings. Instant Lanzhou Handmade Noodle Sunday, July 5th, 2009

I seldom eat Lanzhou handmade noodle in Shanghai because generally Lanzhou noodle houses by street give people a dirty and mess image. Every time I wonder myself if handmade noodle I ate would crash my stomach then give up, even Lanzhou noodle is not bad at all in taste.

Jun Gong Road - Seafood Street in Shanghai Monday, June 15th, 2009

Annie kept telling me she was craving for seafood in recent days and would love to have a seafood feast sometime. I totally agree but just one question, how about the budget!

She was really excited to tell me she found a seafood heaven in Shanghai which money is not a big deal. So she took me tonight to the seafood heaven - Jun Gong Road.

We took the Metro Line 8 and got off at Shi Guang Road Station. And then we called a cab to take us directly to there. It only costed 11RMB of flag fall price.

It is actually a Seafood wholesale market.  There are all kinds of seafood, fish, shellfish, crab etc including local and imported produce. Some are really bizarre.  But all look very fresh. Read More…

Eating Crayfish @Xishan Road, Pudong Sunday, June 14th, 2009

In Shanghai, summertime is crayfish. You could find it in every corner of the city. But if you want to try delicious crayfish, better go to famous street with collection of crayfish houses.

Yesterday night, I, with friends, headed to the city’s crustacean epicenter again. It is other than craydaddy shops in Shouning Lu, and it’s one in Xishan road of Pudong New Area.
